My brother told me that he had ridden in a Toyota SUV type of vehicle in England that got 65 miles per gallon with 5 passengers & speeding at about 90 miles and hour to boot!

He said that it normally advertises to get 68 miles per gallon.

He said that it was not a hybrid or Prius. Is he full of bull or is this a fact? In the U.S. we certainly do not have access to a totally gasoline vehicle that gets this kind of gas mileage.

Is he pulling my leg? If that were true, couldn't they export the vehicles to us?

i already answered this question before, so i'll answer it again.

he said SUV right? well, in the states...not in england though. toyota made an ELECTRIC Rav4 SUV. this was during the 90's when gm had the "ev1", ford had the "think", and honda had their own electric car but i forgot what it was called. they were then discontinued, and they made the excuse that it was because no one wanted them. but they didn't even do any advertising and didn't market them to people. they portrayed sexy women with gas guzzlers, if but they didn't do it with the electric cars. why? because the oil companies were pressuring the car companies to take them off the roads. why? because, does an electric car use gasoline? who sells gasoline? oil companies. if all cars were electric, the oil companies would loose money. the oil lobiers pay the government and automakes money to try to keep them off roads.

why do you think that 60+ mpg ford car isn't available in the states? ford says because they think americans wouldn't be willing to switch to diesel. that's a bunch of bs. look at all the diesel pick ups and suvs that are on the road. if there were a sedan that got more than 60 mpg, people would line up to buy it! but in reality, they know people in the states don't have the initiative to push for what they want. their basically push overs, if gas is expensive, they won't do anything to try to change that, they'll just keep paying. in europe, if gas is expensive, they take the bus or something. they don't buy gas, they actually have initiative. the oil companies are stuffing money in ford's mouth to keep that 60 mpg car out of the states because it will interfere with their profits.

btw, if anyone tells you electric cars are slow, disregard that. i'll show you a video of an electric car smoking a corvette in a quarter mile

http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/videos/view/56-Electric-Drag-Racing

keep in mind, it smoked the corvette with an older style of heavier batteries

there are also videos on youtube of electric rav4's. can't buy them. but you can always convert a normal rav4 into a fully electric for 8 thousand bucks.
