Does tom cruise even bother these days?

After everything I've seen about valkyrie, there isn't even a single shred of evidence that he's even tried to adopt a german accent or even learn a dialect. Am I letting something minor eat at me?
 
Can't be as bad as John Wayne's American drawl in The Greatest Story Ever Told as he watched Jesus being crucified. "That man surely waaas... the sahn of Gaaawwwwd".
I know where you're coming from tho. I saw the trailer in the cinema and the first 20 seconRAB looked great until Cruise popped up. Just playing Tom Cruise. Again.
 
Truthfully and this is ashame, Tom Cruise doesn't have to try, he is big box office and he is so established in a time of stars that no one will recall in five years, he doesn't have to work so hard. Perhaps he was miscast in "Valkyre" but was passionate about the part if you hear him interviewed.
 
Why is Tom Cruise popular? He isn't a great actor, and he's an evil shit.

Look at his eyes. The man is full of hate and anger. He truly is evil.

I just don't get his appeal.

VALKYRIE director BRYAN SINGER has defended his decision to let the non-German cast of the World War II movie use their native accents in the film - insisting it would be less authentic if they tried to fake it.
Some critics have questioned Singer's decision to allow American Tom Cruise and Brits Tom Wilkinson and Kenneth Branagh use their native tongue in the film, even though they play German characters.
But the filmmaker argues they would have sounded stupid and unrealistic attempting to impersonate Germans.
He tells the New York Times, "If everyone was trying to do German accents, the risk of it feeling false was really high.
"It would make no sense. Why would they be speaking in German accents? They're German."
 
i hate tom as an actor (if thats what he calls himself these days) as a human he's a bit wierd but i would say he was evil or full of hate..he's full of something but it aint hate :D
 
Try this next time he's on TV:

Cover everything apart from his eyes, and you'll see what I mean. Cruise may smile ninety percent of the time, but isolating his eyes will show you that he really is the spawn of Satan.

It's nothing to do with his Scientological beliefs - he looks so evil, regardless of his religion.
 
Whilst I get the point about the German accent, shouldn't they all be doing the same accent?

For example, on Prince of Persia the majority of the cast are Brits, so Jake Gyllenhaal has adopted an English accent
 
Saw the film whilst on holiday last week in USA - rather good -and TC is not bad in it at all - my friend thought he was brilliant - I think thats a little over the top but overall a good performance and I enjoyed the film - very tense - could have done with a little more background in my view but that is nit picking - 8/10
