Hi all my 3.5 y old daughter has been extremely challenging lately. When asked to do something such as leave the park as it's time to go home, and even if I give her warning we are about to leave, she will argue, often to the point of refusing to come with me. I have dealt with this by carrying her (and our 2.5 yr old) or just saying that I'm going and walking to the car (leaving her crying) and waiting for her to follow. Then she continues to cry/scream/argue for about 10 mins.

The other day she wanted to continue to play on the toy car ride at a shopping centre after I gave her a minute's warning we were to leave and she just lost it. Pushing the trolley backwards, refusing to get in, refusing to walk and generally screaming.

These are a couple of examples but the general pattern is defiance of an instruction then an angry fit and demands from her. She yells at me sometimes that I am not her friend.

I don't give in when she becomes angry and demanding etc. But I feel so awful. I think she is miserable as well when she is like that. I have heard her say "what is wrong with me?" when she was having a meltdown a few times. She also wants comfort soon after which I give while explaining what a better thing to do would have been.

I guess my question is .......................I am not even sure!! It is hard to say but is there anyone else out there that has a child who can get angry/naughty like this? Most of the time she is lovely but she has a defiant streak. Daycare (3 days/week) say she is very obedient and well behaved and she clearly gets on with the other kids. I am so scared of the future for her.

thanks
