Hi there, I have been itching everywhere for about a week now, I notice some times there are tiny little red bumps where it itches and sometimes there are not. I dont really feel anything else though there were 2 times last week my tongue felt funny. I nocitce starting last night that my chest area and back of my neck feel warm to me. Not like if I touch it but on the inside if that makes sense. I am worried that I am having some kind of allergic reaction to something although I really have done nothing different. The itching is driving me crazy for sure. I keep thinking goodness my throats going to close up or something.

I do take a pain medication and one of the side effects is itching but these are 2 different kinRAB of itching and I have been on this medication for a long time and that side effect is long gone.
I take Oxycodone, I am allergic to Codien and these medications are similar but I have been taking it for like 2 years, would it have gave me peoblems long ago?

Needing some advice, I did go to my doc but she really had no answers, she gave me some cream and sent me on me way. Does this sound like a reaction and if not what does it sound like? Please any help...

Thanks

Have you tried leaving the Oxycodone off and using something else for a few days? Our bodies change and what didn't use to bother us can start causing problems. That could be what's going on here. It may not be but if it were me, I would sorta do a "trial and error" just to see if it started improving without it. I know that I have suddenly started having problems with medications that didn't use to bother me. Another thing to consider is they could have changed one of the ingredients in the Oxycodone that could be causing the problem. Medications change too over the years. Just a thought. Good luck!

The itching can be a sign of an allergy, but I've found that most of the time there is no obvious answer to the itching. It could be about anything.

If it is an environmental allergy, antihistamines should help. Many people find Benedryl helps temporarily. Also Cortizone cream helps with some skin itching.

Outside of that, it can be very frustrating with itches that come on like this. I've had perioRAB of itching over the years and only found answers part of the time.

I cant just stop the oxycodone thats the problem, when you take it everyday for almost 2 years you will get nasty withdrawls, I have tired many times as I really dont care to be on this drug anymore. I have been trying to go as long as possiable without it though and I dont notice anything different, but I keep thinking it has to be since I dont take any other medication and have been using nothing different.

Thank you for your answer, I went to the doctor last night, they have an on call nurse until 8pm and she seemed pretty stumped also. She said if it does not go away within a week then I will come in for blood work and she will send me to an allergy doctor.

Try taking an antihistamine, like Benadryl or Zyrtec. (They can make you drowsy, especially Benadryl, so try it in the evening if you aren't sure how you will react.)

When did you start your current bottle of Oxycodone? If it was about a week before the itching started, then it might be a change in inactive ingredients or manufacturers.

Also, have you changed laundry, soap, perfume, anything else like that? Could it possibly be a food?

I cant recall when if the itching started before or after the new bottle, I know I started the new bottle around the same time but I am unsure if it was before or after.... The manufacture is the same I think.. I wish I had an old bottle around. I am going to check. Does that mean I am allergic to whats in these if thats the case? As for all the others no nothing else is new, did not eat anything different then normal either...
