Does this sound like a weird way of thinking?

I have an only child who I adore, and I don't remember how my friend (who has 6 children) and I got into this discussion, but I was telling her how lucky she was to have 6 children, because if something happened to one of them I think it would be easier to move on, because you still have 5 more children to live for. where as I have only one and if something happened, that's it, there nothing left, no children left to live for. I'm not saying the lose of a child would be less painful no matter how many you have, I'm saying it would be easier to move forward when you have more then one child. My friend Iooked at me like I was from outer space.
Sorry I put this question in the wrong category.
