Does this sound like a potential scam, or something suspicious, involving Craigslist sale?

An acquaintance is selling an automobile for $5,000 on craigslist. It is a classic Mercedes Benz.

He received an email inquiry from a potential buyer, indicating that he wants to purchase the vehicle, sight unseen, but only through PayPal. Once the potential buyer receives the seller's PayPal account info, full name and cell phone number, he will complete the transaction. The buyer also indicated that he will send an agent to pick up the vehicle.

I think this seems suspicious. Why would the potential buyer need the sellers paypal account info? PayPal doesn't work that way, does it? Opinions?

Thanks.

Yes. It is a SCAM.

The "buyer" will send an email that looks like it is from PayPal but it is fake. The email will state that the funds are pending but will only be released when you enter a tracking number from the shipment of the car. Ironically, the scammer has no idea that he is trying to get a car. The same email goes to everyone selling anything.
