I'm going to aks my dad (he's a mechanic) to look at it, but I don't want him to go LOL at me if it's not a good deal ;)

30 mpg on a v6.... thats a dream... expect more like 25 at most.. kbb.com is the best reference.. if the value is below fair.. then u can steal it...

That's an average price if it's from a dealer. It's marked up about $795 over what they expect to get for it. Getting it at $5200 plus fees would be a good deal for you.

If it's from a private party, it's not worth more than $4,500 b/c of all the unknown repairs that would be immediately needed. And needed later on.

But a dealer will usually go through the car front to back and do all the mechanical repairs needed before selling it. They'll also smog and safety check it too. Have your dad check it out. And tell him your research says $4,500 is a good deal from a private party. And $5200 is a good deal from a dealer -- if it's mechanically sound and the rest of the car is in very good condition.

BTW -- the real MPG you can expect is 16-19 city and 23-25 hwy. The La Sabre if a full size car. It's 3.8 V-6 was one of the very best V-6's ever made. It will run for a long long time if it's taken care of.
