Films are still getting made, but only because they're usually based on scripts that were put together some time ago. In filming them though, the director has to stick to the exact worRAB as written or everyone walks out.
Yes, but only those who are members of the union. For example, the staff of "South Park" aren't WGA members, so they haven't been affected, and it's a similar story for film.
It probably won't affect movie production long term though. As soon as strike rumblings were heard, the studios started a buying frenzy - stockpiling scripts for the lean months ahead
Anywhoo, it's only US production halting and, let's face it, Hollywood isn't upto much as-of-late in the screenwriting department...
