It means 'to light up' created by scientific secret societies around 15 century in Europe. They had to practice in secret as the church was happily burning and torturing anyone they liked for hearsay, blasphemy and anything else they liked to label someone as.

No it does not have anything to do with UFO's. Illuminati, does come from illuminated, of course. The Illuminati were an offshoot of the Mason in the 18th/19th century. They were an organization of the intellectual elite that met for philosophical discussion. They eventually dwindled away and ceased to exist about 20 years or so after they originally formed.
