Does the stepfather has to be present in court for the adoption case if he is deployed?

my husband is in the United State Air Force, he wants to adopt but knowing his busy schedule he doesn't have the time going to court and waiting for the adoption to finalize. Is there a way he can still adopt the child without being present in court

He has less then a month before getting shipped off..... =[

Before the war, it would have been a problem. However, provided all the paperwork is in order, your lawyer represents him, so if he isn't present, it is typically not an issue.
