Lets see, on one side, we have very well to do owners complaining that their "workforce" is too demanding and they are going to shut the league down for a year unless things change. They want longer seasons, games played out of the U.S. borders and caps galore.
On the other side, we have players already making historical amounts of money FOR PLAYING A GAME who not only don't want to give up anything, but are also asking for more.
Not much mention of the fan in all this. I mean, why would there be? Ohhhh......wait, I know why. BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THE MONEY COMES FROM. Be it through buying jerseys, going to games, paying for cable to watch games etc etc.........it all comes from the fan. But, somehow, they seem to be left out in the cold concerning all of this.
Kinda makes me sick to be blunt about it. Here is what I am hoping for:
That there is a lock out, it lasts multiple years, fans move on and find something else to do with their time and the NFL finds itself in a position of having to win back the fans when they do iron things out. Hey, it happened to the NHL, they had a hard time of it when they let their labor disputes disrupt things. They came back and found it kinda hard to win people back, for awhile anyway. NBA when through the same thing too.
I'd like to see both parties in the NFL take HUGE, historical losses and then they'll be forced to come back down to earth. And then........oh..........gasp, some of them might have to actually do something to earn their way for a change.
