I consider Anne/Ann/An/Ana/Anna to all be basically the same name and have seen at least on of these variation in every culture/language that I come across. I was wondering if anyone can tell me of one that does have a variation of this name. If no one can, then I find it pretty amazing that this name maybe because of its simplicity to say and generate has appeared in every culture/language.

I hope that makes sense. It doesn't matter if it is used for a girl or boy.
I thought I came across An for a boy in Chinese before....I could be wrong....

I'm not saying they all have the same meaning...just that it is common because of its simplicity to verbally form....like how in every language children have very simple words by which they call their parents....aka in english mom, dad, momma, poppa....verbally easy to say....

Your question is very interstingly and it shows your deep study in languages. I know 5 languages like Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, English and Telugu. In all these languages this word is exists with some different pronunciation and meaning. even Anne is used for Aunt in Kantra. Anna use for brother by the telugu people. Anu is a common name in English for a lovely girl child. Ana is used in Arabic for the pronouns 'I' and also used in Urdu for the word 'ego'. lets continue your research.
