Does the ihome ip9, that is no longer sold, work with the original iphone?

In the store the ihome said it worked with the iphone, but later in the pamphlet it said it only works with the iphone 3gs. If i put the iphone on airplane mode than it works, but otherwise if i get a call it is going to break the speakers. I bought it so this wouldn't happen. PLEASEE HELLPPPP MEEE!
