...marriage at the wedding? Ok, so at t wedding.... the father originally walks in the with bride, and the groom usually meets the bride and her father half way down the isle and then takes her down to the alter (or down to the front to whomever is marrying them). I went to a wedding and as the groom met the father and the bride half way down the isle... I heard the groom say softly "may I have her your daughters hand in marriage".. and he said yes, and then the groom took the bride from her father and they walked down the isle to the alter. Is this customary? I knew that there was some significance to the father giving the bride away, but I just wanted to know if that is what usually happens during the wedding ceremony.
