I adopted two ferrets today, and the owner told me that the ferrets could hear and come by there name. I didn't spend much time playing with them while at their old home, but of course as soon as I got them home I took them out and played with them. I then noticed they did not listen to their names, and did not listen to any sounds.
So I did the deaf ferret test, and put them in front of a vacuum while it was turned on. They did not run.
Does this mean they are deaf or could it just be that they weren't scared and not listening?
I do already have another ferret that is confirmed to be deaf and he has horrible balance; these new ferrets can climb very well and have good balance but don't listen either nor did they run away from the vacuum, which is something my deaf ferret doesn't either.
Advice?
Thanks! :]
