Does the Color of the street / sport bike really make much difference when it comes to..

...safety? I was looking at a blue street bike but I don't really like the paint scheme and I was thinking of painting it black. But I have heard from a few people that it might not be to good of an idea to do that because it wouldn't stand out much.
But would it really make that much difference? From the back view of a street bike most of it is black anyways... I'm just wondering how much more likely I would be to get hit if it was black vs say blue?

Well, there's CERTAINLY nothing wrong with being more visible, but that is a double edged sword: some drunks focus too much on bright colors, and gravitate to them. A black bike to most people looks really cool, but is almost invisible at night, all reflectors not withstanding. The implications and ramifications are obvious....
There have been "studies" done on colors of vehicles affecting the psyche and therefore more dangerous.(red is aggressive, blue is mellow,etc...) I think its alot of hooey. The only thing controlling that bike is the rider until acted upon by an outside force or influence. period. So, if you ride a high visibility bike you are more likely to be seen,... no downside there.

When some clownin a cage hits you it won't matter anyway what color you paint it. Day or night, neon on or not, they will say they never saw you. They never looked, but they won't mention that part. Paint it how you like and enjoy the ride.
