my question is

were the 2 fish as big as the fish jonah was trapped in or were they average small sized fish?
the bible is capable of lying

The five loaves of bread and two fish came from a single boy in the crowd. I imagine they were small enough for a boy to carry - one who walked quite a way to hear Jesus preach.

So they were small, you are right.

Keep reading your Bible.

think about this....fish back then were caught ina net, and he was with his deciples who were fishermen....and they were casting nets etc....i'd say they were regular size fish.

Recall from the context the fish were brought along by some people for a meal on the mountain side. So they could not have been very large. Probably enough for only one or two people normally.

What was at work here was a demonstration of Jehovah God's power to provide for his people through Jesus. That is why after feeding all those thousands, there was enough leftovers to fill several baskets full. All from what only a few people at most brought with them.

And no, the Bible does not lie at any time. The Bible makes clear, "in order that, through two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie." (Heb. 6:18)

The fish were offered by a boy in the crowd who was carrying them. So that puts quite a size restriction on the fish.

And just how big would the fish have to be in order to satisfy a crowd of 5000 without a miracle? I'm not sure even a whale would have been enough!
