James1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Christians interprete the following instructions as they like by saying they're out of context, a figure of speech of just not applicable.
disallowing women to speak in church - commanded by paul
selling everything to take up cross and follow jesus - commanded by jesus
chop off hands and gouge out eyes after sinning - commanded by jesus
stone rebellious children and gays - commanded by moses
go to church everyday - commanded by paul
not eat shellfish - old testament
kill nonbelievers - commanded by joshua and moses
Nowhere in the Bible does it say to interprete and give reasons for not obeying God's Word. IT SAYS plainly to obey in James 1:22.
So Does the Bible instruct christians to OBEY it or INTERPRETE it as you like?
