Does the Army really give the families of soldiers BAH while they are away at boot camp?

My husband has been gone to Army basic training for about a week now. I wanted to know do me and his daughter get any kind of support while he is gone. I asked the recruiter and he didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about. My husband took the marriage license and our other documents with him. How does this all work? I'm a working mother handling everything now so I wanted to know will I be getting any help.
 
Your husband will get BAH at the rate of where his home of record is. The Army doesn't send you anything at all. If you don't have a joint account you will not have any access to his money. Keep in mind it takes 4 to 6 weeks for the pay to process in.
 
The military pays the AD/Reservists not their families just like any other job out there. He will qualify for BAH w/dependents based on the zip code he resided at when he enlisted. It will be included in his pay and deposited into the account he had the information on when he submitted the paperwork at processing. If it is a joint account then you will have access to it. If it wasn't then you will not see it until he has completed Basic. Pay & allowances are paid on the 15th and 1st of each month. It can take up to 6 weeks before the first pay is issued but it is backdated to the date he started. His first pay though can have a $250 deduction because of necessities he needed to purchase when there.
 
you do receive BAH while they are in basic but it does take some time before he receives his first check. he should have set up direct deposit during reception week. it is based on his home address thru basic and AIT after that the amount will change it will be based on his duty station. my wife left on Oct.6 and her first check will come Nov. 15
