Does the apple mic work with the ipod touch 3.0 + later?

i have an ipod touch and i still haven't updated it to 3.0, i was wondering if the mic still works with the updated version because i bought one for like $30 and i don't want it to go to waste, since i need it for some of my apps. but most of the apps on itunes require 3.0 or later so i was thinking of updating it, unless the mic doesn't work. thanks!

It will still work but get 3.0 because it work better on voice memos
