does temperature affect car audio sound quality?

so lately in my area the temp has been a little mild, which is a nice change from the 20-30 degree weather we've been having. When i got in my car today, i noticed that sound quality of my car stereo's audio was much better. The music sounded more rich, and my sub hit alot harder and it was much 'smoother' sounding. Now, I've pretty much noticed this every time it gets warm, but i always though it was just me, but now i not so sure. Every summer my stereo sounds really good, and then in the winter when it's cold and frigid and everything is frozen, the audio sounds brittle and stale. Now i've only had my sub since october, but i could still notice the difference back then. Now my question is, does the temp affect the audio quality, or do you think its just me? And if the temp does happen to affect the audio, how and why does that happen?
Thanks

I can see what your saying... i sort of experience the same. but i live in phoenix, az, so its almost the opposite. i dont like bumping my system super hard in the summer cause the amps run hot and that causes premature failure. but as for the cold, im sure it takes a lil while for the amps to warm up... the main thing i can think of tho, since i am not a scientist, is that the acoustics of your car changes since its cold. it make the metal more rigid and changes the response of the speakers. cause i notice in the winter, my car makes a lot of creek noises and sounds that really annoy me.
