I have been in cross country for 4 years (6th, 7th, 8th, and this year 9th) long distance is what I do and will keep on doing. But for track season I wanted to change things up and be a sprinter (just for track season) and I am scared that if i keep on practicing with the sprinter that when I go back to cross country season I will have less endurance and not be as fast as I used to be in long distance? Is this true? :(

No. It's not. Sprinting will improve your long-distance running by making your lactose threshold higher, which is a good thing. The problem is with possible injuries, because sprinting exerts much bigger force on your joints and ligaments.
