Does spanking a child count as child abuse?

Not in the US. I rarely spank, I believe other methods can work (for most children) when used on a regular basis, but I'm not against spanking. I think spanking, when done in anger or to an extreme, can become abuse - but spanking in itself is not abuse.
 
you shouldnt BEAT a child but spanking are perfectly fine. Its the ones that are allowed to get away with murder as a kid that are gonna blow your brains out when they are 15..
 
i see my cousins do it to their children but only when they are going too crazy. I think its child abuse when you do it constantly or for enjoyment. I absolutely hate it when people hit their children because if you do it constantly the child is going to live in fear and won't learn anything.

No. I was abused as a child and I know the difference. My kids get a tap on the butt and there is nothing violent or angry about it.
