Does sexual desire in females correlate to ovulation?

I've read and heard of many things that suggest that women are especially horny around the time they ovulate. From a genetic standpoint this makes perfect sense as the body would make changes that encourages reproduction. I've also heard that women can be horny immediately before and after (and even during) their periods but it is not uncommon for women to be especially turned on around the time they ovulate.

If it is true that women are the most horny immediately before and during ovulation to induce pregnancy, is it likely that women are the least horny or lacking in sexual desire AFTER they've ovulated? Or is there a possibility that a woman (under normal circumstances) could be ovulating but not have increased sexual urges?

The reason I ask is because my wife has a very unpredictable period, sometimes as early as 21 days and sometimes as late as 30 days. Normally her cycle runs 24-26 days, but it is very hard trying to predict her ovulation. I believe she ovulates very early in her menstrual cycle as she has stronger sexual urges the week following her period?
