Does one REALLY need a class in digital photography to learn to...

...upload/download photos + using software? There's a class offered for 80 bucks, and wondering if I can just learn all this stuff on my own. {wondering why this particular class would run a few wks./1 day per wk. for 2hrs. each class.}
 
You don't really need classes to learn that. You can just go out and buy photoshop and teach yourself how to use it, that's what I did.
 
If you're talking about the software that comes with the camera or maybe Photoshop Elements, sure you could teach yourself to use that and to upload and download photos. Don't waste your time or money.

No, you can not learn something as complicated as CS4 on your own unless you have significant free time-ie: as in all you have is free time- and a lot of patience. I have a friend who has been teaching himself to use CS4 and he doesn't recommend it.
