Does my Toyota need a "break service" at 30,000 km?

The Toyota dealership I go to for oil changes is telling me that I need a "break service" for my 2008 Avalon, which would consist in checking and adjusting the break components (not replacing anything). They would charge $150 for that. Seems like a scam to me. I asked why it wasn't recommended in the owner's manual, and they say that it's "dealer recommended".

Brakes normally don't need to be 'adjusted' or serviced until they are worn to the point they need replacement. Sounds like your mechanic wants to pad his bill to get some extra cash for Christmas. I'd find another place to get my oil changed.
