Does My Mother Want Me To Fail in Our Business?

So I began managing my family's residential building about 6 years ago. In that time I have completely turned the place around. I have lead the charge in new repairs, I have increased our profits, organized most of our papers, made most things that were out of whack right again.

I never felt TRULY a part of this business until recently when I moved us away from long term low income rentals to high return vacation rentals and furnished corporate housing. I have really succeeded with one apartment and now we are primed for 2 more this month and next.

In the time I have been doing this (Since April) I have made tens of thousands on ONE unit yet my mother (the president of the company) has done nothing but criticize the way I do business.

When she didn't think the vacation rentals would work she would say "no one wants to stay here" when I got my first would be tenants they promised to meet me the next morning to settle up and pay, the whole morning she told me they weren't coming, that I was kidding myself, that I was just naive. When they came she said I got lucky. She can't use that any more, she knows my idea worked and continues to work. I really have something here.

Now with a new contractor I have renovated (almost renovated) one of the new units. She says I'm soft on the guy, she nit picks at his work, says I'm getting suckered, and that I don't have experience. I got this guy doing the whole 1 bedroom for $1,200 (not including materials) that's paint, spackle, a new bathroom, hung some cabinets, not to bore you with details, but it was a lot of work. I did well, and all she can do is tell me how badly I'm doing.

I love my mom, so please, no bashing her, but it seems to me she wants me to be dependant on her so she makes me feel like I'm failing, esp. because I'm succeeding.
