I noticed that my fish was extremely swollen so assumed it was because I was overfeeding him (6-8 pellets a day). However, he ballooned out even more so that from the top you can see the scales sticking out of his body. So then I started adding Bettafix rememdy to his tank everyday.
I assumed it was dropsy so I continued the medication while treating him like normal. But, I read somewhere that dropsy kills within 3 weeks and its been almost 3 months.
He doesn't move when he doesn't have to but he still chases my pencil if I move it around the bowl. He doesn't make bubble nests anymore either.
Please tell me what could be wrong with my fish. Could it still be dropsy even though its been 12 weeks since he ballooned up?
