Does media influence our thoughts and actions?

Naivety, role modeling, stereotypes, and issues may have a part in choices or thoughts derived from interactions with media. Of course these things might just be a few observations.
Music certainly affects ones mood or thoughts, does that mean other media sources do as well?

i would totally have to say yes, i believe all the violence in the world is to be blamed on TV and Music although music is something I love i hate to admit but uh mostly TV
Then theres THE INTERNET
look at all the stupid things people attempt to do and eventually hurt or kill themselves, take MTV's Scared for example people try stupid stunts to get their 15 min. of fame and thats it
how about those silly stupid songs about destroying the world or killing parents or antichristing and what not
then theres all those stupid gangster music with the whole "ima kill u cus we think its our birth right to kill people just cus we feel like it, yea yea yea yea uh uh uh uh uh (eventually repeats the whole thing about 50 times per song)
but yeah you gotta love MUSIC

Yes, the general population has built up a trust in media and reporters as a whole. That trust is being tested at the present time and found lacking. So the trend to being influence is slowly changing. Music has come under fire as the icons that media has built has.
The newspapers have lost readership and face the possibility of going out of business, but have done little to try to repair the damage they did to the trust they no longer have.
Other media is facing the same problem. People expect true and factual reporting. We have been getting too much mis-information or half information to trust fully in what is said and how it is put to us. we want news not sensationalism and opions.
The ability to once again influence us is still there but only if they rebuild the trust they abused.
