Okay, well, I just turned 14, and I got my first period at the start of August. It lasts about 4-5 days, and it's heavy for 2 days, then it's light for the rest of it. It's been pretty irregular, but it's starting to go in more of a predictable time range now. Anyway, I overheard my mom and aunt talking to each other this morning (They talk about crap like this right in front of me, while I'm eating! -_-) and my mom was telling her about how her periods are really heavy, and they last 9 days and how they make her feel so drained and tired, and how she's thinking about getting her "tubes tied".
My aunt apparently was the same way until she got a hysterectomy, so she doesn't get her period anymore. She said my grandma was the same way. I have no idea about my dad's side of the family though, because I'm not in touch with any of the women from his side...
I read somewhere that a period supposedly gets heavier 6-10 months after your first period.
I'm really worried that I'm gonna wind up getting a 9 day super heavy period like my mom does, instead of my 4-5 day mild one
Does it sound like I'll wind up with this horrible problem, or no?
I reaaallllyyyy hope not.
Oh, and my mom doesn't eat red meat, so that might be why it bothers her so much. My aunt and grandma both ate red meat though. I eat it occasionally, whenever it's around.
Thanks for the help!
Oh, one last thing. How can I ask my mom if I can use tampons? Pads are super gross, and I can't swim with them.
Sorry this is a long question. Any answers are greatly appreciated!
Oh, and I'm a little underweight for my age. I'm about 5'1" and I weigh around 80-90lbs.
