Does it really matter how a person camps?

Don't you think that all that matters is that you have fun, enjoy the outdoors in your own way? To me it don't matter how you do it. Yes, I camp in a trailer, no I don't do it to pack my house with me. I have a small trailer. It is not a big fancy home on wheels. I do not take my house with me. We are more comfy in the trailer, and yes I did tent camping for 17 years, I did enjoy it. We still cook outdoors, have a campfire, and so on.
So, does it really matter how a person does it as long as they enjoy what they are doing? There are alot of different ways you can camp.
To reply to an answer to clarify something, where I live, you can only camp in approved campgrounds. There is no pulling off somewhere to camp. So no choice there.
Plus, the economy won't stop me taking out my trailer.
 
Yes its really all about getting out ther to relaxe and fun with mother nature. I don't have the luxury of owning a trailer, but I use tents when I'm with other people. For the most part I use a tarp, wool blanket, snug pack softie elite, tent stakes if I know theres going to be no branchs or twigs to use, bungee cords, para- cord, etc. Its the greatest way of having a shelter in your backpack.

I recommend Maxpedition gear for any outdoor person.
 
I agree. Every person should camp for their own enjoyment. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We have lots of parks and RV sites here but I don't use them .

My favorite type of camping here is to kayak down a creek or a river and camp on a sand bar that is 4 or 5 miles away from the nearest road. Some of my friends paddle out to one of the barrier islands and camp there.

Lots of college students around here use an Eagle's Nest nylon hammock instead of a tent. It's all about what you enjoy.
 
well, personally, if your in a campground surrounded by 20 other noisy "campers", then no, your not camping, but if you take your trailer to a secluded spot away from the city and civilization, then a yes.
camping is known to be living in the wild, away from the troubles of life in the city, these "campers" who pop up with their trailer at a campground where they just drive the trailer into a lot and sit around, drinking beer and nothing else to do except get a tan?? no no no no, your supposed to work on your shelter(setting up your trailer is considered this too), gather water, some of us even gather most of the food we need for the trip from the wild.
now we're likely gonna have a huge change in the idea of camping because of the economy and the cost of driving a RV around is still ridiculous and tent camping is way cheaper, so people will switch and see how much better tent and wilderness camping is, at least i hope so.
