I'm about to buy a MiniSD card for my E61, but I'm wondering does brand matter? there seems to be a large price difference between a Sandisk card and a lesser known brands (Transcend or others)?...is there a chance a cheap one could fry the device?

thanks,

I recommend Sandisk since ive tried kingston, ATP and other brands on mutiple S60 phones from 3650,6600,6620,6670,n80,e61,n73

They seem to have the least amount of issues. I dont mean big problems but small things like theme will sometimes go back to the default same as with ringtones on the card. Reason from what im told is the info dosent get read fast enough so the phone goes to the default.

You can get sandisks pretty cheap off this seller and they are OEM(the ones he says are Sandisk that is).

Yeah but this guy charges friggin $16 for shipping and handling...

This will top out at $25 shipped for domestic or $27.30 if shipped internationally. Otherwise, you'ed be looking at $32+ shipped from the ebay guy. It's not a lot of money, but it just seems better to pay less...

Also, it's a SanDisk...

I had a 1 GB miniSD from Kingston which worked for awhile then died. The replacement they sent me failed upon formatting.

I went and bought a Transcend 2 GB miniSD and thus far, works fine. I've been using a Transcend 150x SD card for my Nikon D50 and it's worked flawlessly for over a year now so hoping all their flash memory products are solid.

I bought a cheap noname 1GB card that didn't work well with my N80. I lost a bunch of photos when it got corrupted (more than once).
After buying a Single Layer Cell (SLC) 2GB Transcend 80X card I haven't had any problems.
