Does it matter what bike a Vetter Fairing was on?

I have a Vetter Windjammer MarkIV Fairing that came with my bike from the factory and I'd like to buy a set of lowers for it. My bike is an 81 Suzuki GS850G. I see lowers on eBay but they say "Came off a 79 Honda CB750..." or something like that.

Does it matter what bike it was on or do the lowers just need to match the model of the fairing? I mean, Mark IV lowers should work on a Mark IV fairing no matter what bike it's on, right? It's only the mounting bracket that matters, right?
 
Yes and no. If the fairing was used on a Honda 4 and you want to install it on a Suzuki 4, the fairing part is probably the same. But the brackets are probably different. Because the tanks, frames, etc... are different between the brands (and from year to year) the mounting brackets would be different.
