Does it make you happy how well The Inbetweeners is doing?

It seems to be the only TV event (excluding reality shows) that everyone gets excited for!

As a teen and knowing people ages 15-24 people actually stay in just to watch the show... and I think its great how this brilliant show has turned into such a huge success!

IMO the best comedy since FrienRAB ended for sure, probably one of the best comedies ever for me.

Also the ratings speak for itself that it more than DOUBLED C4s ratings at the same time, when E4 gets a much smaller audience normally last night.... Jamie Oliver recieved 1.2m while The Inbetweeners received 2.54m and has broken E4 recorRAB.

It also had lost practically zero audience.

Just to be clear, average ratings....
Series 1- around 300,000
Series 2- 1.1m
Series 3 so far (just overnight) 2.5m and hitting around 3.5m in officials.

Now do you feel happy for the sudden success? And I'm really upset that this is the last series and there are only 2 more episodes left :(

So what made this show so big do you think??

I'd never heard of it until the first series had aired. Then I caught it all via On Demand then I watched all of the second series as it aired and now the third. It's a very funny show, one of C4's most successful commisions.

It's a success because it really is funny and at school you either one of those characters or you knew someone like them. I was chatting to one of the writers last night and he's chuffed with how it's performed.

Never heard of it until the other day. Really liked the 1st two episodes of the new series and have the other 2 on loan.

My Wife doesn't like it :D

On the face of it, The Inbetweeners should be dire, an immature show only watched by teenagers like all the rubbish sitcoms on BBC3.

But it's not just a load of swearing and knob gags, it's really well written and well made, with strong character personalties that are not just one dimensional (i.e we kind of know why Jay is like he is because of the stick he gets off his Dad) and ongoing sub-plots (the stuff about Neil's dad being gay etc) and now all ages seem to like it, even getting write ups in the Guardian!

Although i DO like the inbetweeners, it is way WAY over rated.

The first series was the funniest by far, second was good, third is dragging it on a bit.

I actually avoid facebook on mondays because from evening-ish right through to late at night it is over flowing with Inbetweeners status' .

I thought the adverts for the first series looked stupid but caught a repeat by chance when E4 aired it after new Skins episodes. It was hilarious and I couldn't believe how wrong my first impressions were.

It used to be a little obscure but it is good to see quite how many people like and watch it now.

I only discovered it on Xmas day last year the last ep of s2 I missed the whole night of it ha FS. I mean I heard of it but I just never bothered but that night on Xmas I was having a lousy time and it cheered me right up so next day I DLed the whole series and I love it. Haven't watched a single bit of S3 yet gonna wait just 2weeks till the finale ep 6 then watch s3 in one batch and I can't Fing wait but it will be so worth it!!! Glad to hear it will be bowing out to almost 3mill viewers this year that's really good brillient

I'd never watched it until a few months ago when I watched a repeat after BB on C4 one evening.

I watched a few more on 4OD the following day and then bought the complete boxset a few days later.

Can't believe i'd missed it for so long, it's fantastic  :D

Too true i went to school in the 70s and can remember characters just like those in the series some things never change.LOL:D.

Which is why even at my age ah erm,50 i enjoy inbetweeners

It hits exactly the right spot pardon the pun.:)

It truly deserves its success for E4 and the fact its out performing jamie oliver on the main channel 4 speaks volumes too many chefs on tv spoil the broth.:D

Like Fawlty Towers which only ever had 2 series made its probably better for the inbetweeners to go out at the top,and not when its on a downward spiral that way it may even be remembered in the same way in years to come as Fawlty Towers is today.:)

I used to love The Inbetweeners and still do think its hilarious but its lost its special feel to it because its no longer that little show thats really funny but no one reallly knows.

Now everyone quotes it everyone talks about it and everyone posts about it on Facebook! Its like everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and god forbid your on facebook whilst its on you know every joke and every bloody thing that happens!

Ive been watching since season 1, think i saw the first episode randomly whilst channel surfing, so it does get a bit tiresome when you get people who think its just new out or something and are now obsessed with it.

Yeh, it has followed very similar line to Gavin and Stacey and it's popularity will probably be the death of it :( Popularity definitely brings out all the haters with both shows which seems to bother some fans over time.

While I do think it's still very funny and makes me laugh like very few shows can, I do think it is starting to lose it a bit. Mainly cos I think they are believing their own hype and going for more 'outrageous' comedy like Simon's wardrobe malfunction, and this week with Neil peeing everywhere. The show was doing just fine in series 1 and 2 without overdoing it like that.

Also, Mr Gilbert has been vastly underused this series so far. They really should have more of the episodes set in the school cos Mr Gilbert is probably one of my favourite characters of all!
