im starting up a business checking up and filling up oil in cars, i want to buy just two types of oil - one for diesel cars and one for petrol cars. is there a problem in that? when you go into a car parts and accesories shop here in england they say you need to give them a list of cars so they can match the oil.... surely that cant have to be true. i just want to buy two oils. please could you advise me on what types of oils i should buy? and if this will damage cars?

Are you actually changing the oil?
Or, are you just checking the oil and topping it off if low?
If you're just topping it off, it doesn't matter.
If it's only a little low, it will be diluted with the other oil.
If it's very low, then any oil is better than running it low.
