...in boxing history? Not wanting to fight Pavlik just proves what i thought of Calzaghe, a heartless fighter who wants to be regarded as one of the best boxers by finally showing up to fight legends way past their primes, giving nothing but lame excuses for not wanting a rematch with Hopkins. A real man with a fighting heart would definitely take up a challenge for a rematch from a fight that could arguable of gone either way as well as to give boxing fans what they want. The best way i can describe him is that of a first time gambler at a blackjack table, finally getting the guts to bet, jumps in, wins with a blackjack, and after runs with it while messing up the whole winning table.

You kind of answered your own question in your statement: a man with a fighting heart would take up the challenge. Well, maybe Joe just doesn't have a fighting heart anymore. He's 37, been boxing professionally for 16 years, who knows how long his amateur career was. As far as the blackjack comparison, well Joe was gambling for a title and his life for 16 years. He won the WBO supermiddle title in 1997; had he retired after that you may have a point, but his first title defense he wins by KO. He fought many 0 loss and 1 loss fighters, and he became the only undisputed supermiddleweight champ in the division's history when he beat 39-0 Mikkel Kessler. I think Joe stayed at that blackjack table for a good while. I mean just one undisputed supermiddleweight in history and it's Joe Calzaghe. I don't think he owes anyone anything but his family and wife. The other question about Hopkins, I think he's great, and I look forward to his next fight. He's at the top, so he should fight Dawson or Froch.

Hopkins is actually my favorite boxer,he looked brilliant against Pavlick, as far as Calzaghe let him retire who really cares he came as fast as he went, he was a quick fad in boxing , nobody really cares about him anymore did you know he turned down a fight with Dawson? now if calzaghe would of beat dawson that would of been impressive, as far as his win over hopkins i also think that was a fight that could of gone either way, and i think a rematch would of favored hopkins, but like i said who cares? theres bigger fish to fry for hopkins

Calzaghe has had a great career. He retired 46-0...beating Hopkins(though some like you may feel questionably), Jones, Kessler, and Lacy (when he was undefeated and feared by many). I am equally amazed at how Hopkins is fighting amazingly past 40...his defeat of Pavlik and Tarver were shocking. I'm less concerned about Calzaghe not fighting Hopkins again, and more interested in him never fighting Froch. I thought that should've happened. He doesn't owe the fans or Hopkins a rematch. If he's done all he wants to do in the game that's fine and his career is Hall of Fame for certain.
