Shaft drive and "self adjusting valves" makes for very low maintenance. Never saw one in the shop or heard of one overheating. Thermostat or water pump failure is rare. Liquid cooled bikes last longer than air cooled.
Well built bike! The older 80's and 90's models only have a 4 speed tranny which is the only complaint I know of, but they did upgrade that in the late 90's to a 5 speed. The engine on those is solid! 100,000 miles plus if you take care of it.
