Does HD require a new satellite?

I just purchased an HDTV and ordered HD from Bell. Will the HD installation require a new satellite or for the technician to go on the roof for any reason? I am asking because I will need to inform the super in my building so he can allow the Bell technician access to the roof if he needs to go up there. If it does require a new satellite, why is that? What's the difference between the one I have now and this new one?

Most SD stations are on SAT91 and BellTv only install SAT91 when they do the install

Certain SD stations, such as the Variety 3 theme pack, Salt&Light, AOV Movies, MaleFilxxx and probably others i'm forgetting need an additionnal LNBF install since they are on SAT82.

All the HD programming are on SAT82. Since you probably just have one LNBF you will need the second one installed to catch the SAT82 stations

Since it will be your first HD receiver if you add programming requiring the upgrade (such as HD) you will get the install done free of charge
 
I assume you are referring to the dish antenna? the satellites are 22,000 kms up. :)
They usually replace the dish and use the same j-mount if it is securly mounted and in good shape. The dish they use for HD is 20", has a different arm for 2 LNB's and has a Skew adjustment.
 
What kind of dish are you using? Is it an individual dish that feeds your house only, or a huge dish that feeds the hole building (MDU)? If it's a MDU dish I belive it is not possible to install HD...
 
Sammy740 is correct, hundreds of building in the GTA alone are now fully equipped for 91 & 82 degree reception.
 
When I go into the dish signal menu there is an option for both the 82 and 91 and both have good signals. Is it possible I have both already?
 
Can you go to http://www.connectyourspace.com/ and enter your postal code and choose your building.

At the bottom what does INTERNAL USE: say?
 
91 is for the majority of the programming, while 82 is for international, and HD programming. Seeing as you have said you have good signal on both satellites, you should be good to go.
 
I just checked and sat 82 has 100% signal (sat 91 is actually less at 92%). Does this mean all I need is the receiver?
