My grandmother died about seven months ago in Santa Clara County, CA, with both a will and living trust. None is on file, and the executor / power of attorney refuses to give it to anybody. I have just finished my final request (formal, certified, delivery-confirmation mail) to her asking for this documentation. She wanted me to quickly cash a $1,000 check from her account with the subject "Grandma". I have kept the check, and refuse to cash it. Grandma's estate is valued at almost $1,000,000.
Does Grandma's will / living trust have to be filed in court (in California)?
