Pretty much, though I'd say Golding's view was one-sided. Hurricane Katrina is a good example of both good and bad behavior, but of course the bad got the lion's share of the media's attention
 
...civilization are savages? just wanted some ideas on your opinion on Golding's purpose of writing Lord of the Flies, is he trying to tell us that humans are savages when we have no rules or law?
