M MeganOhio New member Aug 23, 2009 #2 No...to mine gold you are removing mountainsides and/or tops, which is basically blowing up a whole habitat. It also creates large sediment loads in streams and rivers, which can result in large dieoffs of fish, amphibians, and invertebrates.
