Does going to a college preporatory school give you an advantage when applying for...

...college? For example, If you have a B average at a prep school would you be considered over the A student at a public school (assuming you have the same SATs, extra curriculars, ect.)

I went to a public school K-8 and the education I recieved there is not even comparable to a private school. I learned more my freshman year than my entire public school education. So do admissions officers generally feel confident about preparatory school students?

I want to go to University of Miami...
 
If you do well at a private school with a good reputation, I think it shows that you have a pretty good chance of doing well at college, and that's what admissions officers care about. It's still a balance of everything in your application.

I think the real advantage of college prep schools is that after you get to college, you'll probably be better prepared (heh, preparatory) to tackle the academics.
