Does getting your hair thinned solve my problem?

My hair is very very VERY thick. I have about 3-4 heads of hair, very voluminous. When my hair isn't blow dryed its unmanageable. My hair looks really good scrunch but after it dries it turns into a poofy disaster. A couple friends of mine said they get their hair thinned and it works for them. But then again we have totaly different types of hair.
