I have figure skating camp July 19-23 and August 16-20. My period is scheduled for July 17 and should end the following Wednesday. I will be figure skating for 3 hours, then I have an off ice class for 45 min in which we do aerobic activity, stretching and strength training. (The August one is scheduled for the Saturday before camp, so Aug 14-18.)
The first two hours is light exercise (just moves and dance, so I'm not skating hard yet, and then the second hour is synchro, in which I won't be moving fast, maybe a few jumps and spins, but since we'll have beginners in the camp, we have to accommodate their level.) But then the third hour is jumps/spins.
Does eating specific food, eating more/less, and drinking more/less affect flow? I don't eat very much at all when I skate, hate skating on a full stomach, I'll probably eat an apple and drink Gatorade for lunch.
Will skating/exercising affect flow? Because I really am screwed, because though I am familiar with the rink, you're not allowed to go to the bathroom without a camp instructor taking you (please. really. I'm 13/14, I can't go by myself?) so I wouldn't be able to go privately and change pads if it becomes heavy due to the physical exertions. The only way is to leave the ice during a class and the coaches frown upon that, though during class they won't make you go with an instructor, you're allowed to go by yourself. But I'd have to go in the locker room first and get a pad out of my bag. I usually use 2-4 pads per day.. so every 6-10 hours.
Oh and what are menstrual cups? I have heard references to them.. last for 12 hours, don't leak- how do they work/what shape are they? Can I twist my body and move my legs without it going out of place? Are they sold in Walmart?
Do sports tampons work better than pads/last as long? (Can 13 yr olds even use tampons?)
