Does diet affect acne?

Heyyy I have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian for 6 years and I am wondering if that has any affect on my skin. I read some articles on detoxification and they said to avoid dairy products which is like my main source of protein. I work out a lot so loading up with protein is very important (I drink like 2 liters of milk per day). I have started eating fish but I feel guilty and inhumane about it and taking the next step to chicken is gonna be a major kick in the nuts for me. I guess i will have to try though because milk seems to be bad news. :(
Has anyone tested avoiding dairy? Any feedback?

A vegetarian diet should help your skin, as far as I know. Maybe you can try excluding diary if you think that's the problem, but in my experience the difference is trivial. I'd have to say overall that diet is trivial, after all the theories I've read about it. I'd stay vegetarian and save some animals, but look for other methoRAB to cure acne : )

I have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian for 9 yrs, and I never noticed an effect on my skin.
I used to break out before becoming vegetarian, and continued breaking out afterward. I have since had dermatological treatment, and do not break out as much, but I am beginnning to again, and will opt for derm treatments again to control them.
Everyone is different, of course, but in my experience, the answer to your question would be no.

After I read this I went looking at a sight of a guest speaker on a talk show I saw recently. She mentioned that she was a model who got fired from a job for her bad skin. She said her bad skin was due to her bad diet. When she ate right and lived right, her skin cleared up. This subject drives me crazy for several reasons. My poor child threatened to leave home if I didn't stop harping on the subject. I quit it and she takes prescription meRAB and has for years to control her acne. She apparently has elevated BP due to the pill BRW. I hate to think that an acne prone person is doomed to a life of prescription medicine because their acne won't clear any other way. The body has a remarkable way of healing itself given the right tools so I still believe that there is a link. I would encourage people to read all they can about the effect of diet on acne and also the benefit of a short term cleansing diet to jump start things. I think it is worth a try. If I had that knowledge when I was younger, I would have tried it. All I ever did was avoid milk and chocolate. It didn't do anything BTW. I am now in my 50's and a vegetarian and I still break out if I eat too much sugar. If I eat well, I am clear.

I have been reading up on the effects of milk on acne... Supposedly milk from pregnant cows contains hormones that "turn on" oil glanRAB...
Type "milk acne" in your search engine and give me some feedback. Is it BS?

I've had some positive skin effects from a veggie shake I have been drinking for breakfast. I read about it in the book
