Does cosigning on a car help build credit?

Hey so a couple of months ago (around Sept. 08) my dad helped me buy a car. Because I have no credit history he went as the primary and I cosigned on the car. Does my cosigning help build my credit and how long does it take for it to affect it positively?
 
Auto finance is what I do for a living and you both will get equal credit for this loan either good or bad depending on how it's paid.

When someone looks at either of your credit reports in the future all that will show is either a "J" for joint or a "C" for co-sign nobody will know who is the primary and who is the secondary signer.

It will take at least 6 payments made as agreed to have any effect on your score and will have the maximum effect after 24 payments made as agreed.
