I'm confused, please help.. my poor fish is suffering, he has a fungus that is covering his body, i don't know what to do for him and i feel soo bad. I did clean the tank and give him meds, but it's not looking good for him. it's been like 3 days now, is it too soon to tell if i should euthanize him? what is the best way to do it? and does clove oil work?
Thanks guys I appreciate all sincere answers :)

what kind of fish?
what tank size?
what are you treating with?

3 days isn't really enough time unless he's gotten drastically worse.

clove oil puts them to sleep, but if you use enough it kills them also. it's kin of like anaesthesia except for fish. if they used too much during a surgery, a person could die (which is why they need to be specialised to put you to sleep for a surgery). if he's tropical, a good way to do it is use some clove oil to put it to sleep then put it in ice water. it shocks the system so if the clove oil doesn't kill it the ice water will and the fish won't feel a thing.

Clove oil sort of knocks them out, so you can kill it after administering clove oil. Incase you mess up and don't kill the fish immediately, it still won't feel too much pain. If it's a small fish, you can quickly hit it against the wall. Or you could put the fish in warm water, and then quickly switch it to a bowl with ice cold water(with ice cubes). The shock will quickly kill your fish.

I think clove oil is the best, less pain if you do something wrong by accident. Good luck, sorry about the fungus :(

Clove oil is commonly used as an anesthetic for surgeries dealing with fish. Double the dose and you can easily kill the fish.
