Does changing Nokia N95 Firmware Unlocks the Phone?

Hi, I'm about to get a locked N95 and would like to know if I update the firmware will I be able to unlock the phone from the T-Mobile carrier? Thanks!

Depends, if he's buying one that is locked to T-Mobile UK, then it's a valid question.

To answer the OP, the only way to unlock an S60v3 phone is through the carrier who's phone it is. So only T-Mobile UK can unlock a T-Mobile UK N95, only Voda can unlock a Vodafone N95, etc.

Just to clarify the left soft key followed by the asterik unlocks the phone.
