Does biking help? Trying to be fit!?

I know that if you run for a mile- thats a pretty good workout.

What about biking? I'm trying to loose about 5-7 pounds. I have trouble not pigging out lol.

I'm 15, 5'5", and 140 pounds. I have huge hips and I need to loos two inches of crud off my stomach. And that's about it.

Anyways, I just got a bike. I just want to be fit- it's summer!! Crunches?
I hate dieting, but any recipes you think I'll like? Help! :D
 
I also bike. It's great exercise. Many gyms have spinning classes, in fact, which is riding a stationary bike. Just eat nutritiously--a hearty salad, protein, fruit, and a couple 200 calorie snacks daily.
