does bike riding do the same thing to your legs as running does?

the PE pacer if coming up...like 3 days, i want to get in shape for it. the pacer is a thing where there are two pieces of tape and you have to run back and forth in a certain amount of time--its hard! i have to get 20...my bff got 90. but i cant do that much. i can barely do 2 and i need to start excersizing so i can get 20. is it possible to get in shape (im not biig, just no athletic) in 3 days? and i prefer bike riding over runnin, so would bike ridingdo the same thing as running would? and is bike riding good enough? any ideas? pleaseee help!
